The National Science Foundation (NSF) Advanced Sensing and Computation for Environmental Decision-making (ASCEND) Engine in Colorado and Wyoming is advancing technologies and data-driven systems that help communities better predict, prepare for, and respond to natural hazards.

Natural hazards, including wildfires and extreme weather events, are increasingly threatening U.S. infrastructure, energy systems, and communities, placing greater strain on existing prediction systems and response capabilities.

Through a coalition of over 50 partners, the NSF ASCEND Engine is developing and deploying technology solutions using advanced sensing and computational analytics – tools that equip governments, industries, and communities with the information they need to anticipate risk, protect lives, and strengthen community resilience.
