The National Science Foundation (NSF) Florida Semiconductor Engine is strengthening America’s capacity to design, package, and produce high-performance semiconductors—critical to powering everything from AI-enabled smartphones to autonomous defense systems.
Today, 98% of advanced semiconductor packaging is done offshore, leaving the United States vulnerable to supply chain disruptions, security risks, and economic pressure. The Florida Semiconductor Engine is changing that.
With support from the NSF Regional Innovation Engines program, the NSF Engine is bringing together startups, manufacturers, universities, private companies, and public sector partners to move advanced semiconductor packaging technologies from lab to market at scale. Anchored in NeoCity, a 500-acre technology campus in Osceola County, this growing ecosystem will provide U.S. defense, medical, telecommunications, and aerospace companies with secure, domestic access to the high-performance packaging solutions they need for next-generation products and systems.
